CREATE YOUR OWN SCHOOL ARt GALLERY
Like what you saw? Now create your own.
The School ARt Gallery methodology is free to explore, use and adapt to your own school, students and local context.
You don't need to recreate our project exactly. We have brought together the resources, training and practical experience developed during the project to help you create your own journey — from the first idea to a physical artwork enhanced with Augmented Reality.
Ready? Follow the steps below.
1. START WITH THE CURRICULUM
The School ARt Curriculum is the foundation of the methodology.
It explains the educational approach behind School ARt Gallery and brings together art education, digital competences, street art and Augmented Reality, based on the European DigCompEdu framework.
Use it to understand the methodology, define your learning objectives and decide how School ARt Gallery can fit into your own educational context.

2. GET READY WITH THE ONLINE TRAINING
The School ARt Gallery Online Training Course gives teachers and educators the knowledge and practical skills needed to develop the project with their students.
You can complete the whole course or select the modules most relevant to you.
If your goal is to create a School ARt Gallery, we particularly recommend:
Module 3 — History and Techniques of Street Art
Discover the history, techniques and possibilities of street art.
Module 4 — AR in Connection with Street Art
Explore how Augmented Reality can interact with and extend a physical artwork.
Module 5 — Digital Art Creation and Modification
Learn how to create and prepare digital content for your artwork. This module includes the explanation of Artivive.
Module 10 — Street Art Production
Follow the practical steps involved in working with an artist, contacting relevant authorities and producing an artwork in public space.

3. PLAN YOUR SCHOOL ARt GALLERY
Now turn what you have learned into a real project.
Our Practical Guide takes you through the process tested during the School ARt Gallery pilots.
Start by bringing together:
your students + teachers + an urban artist + a suitable wall or location
We recommend involving the same group of students and artist(s) throughout the process, from the introductory activities and workshops to the physical artwork, digital implementation and documentation.
Start looking for your wall early. Depending on the location, you may need permission from the school, property owner or local authority.
Then work with your artist and students to develop the theme, concept, techniques and visual proposal together.
School ARt Gallery is about co-creation: students should participate in shaping the work rather than simply watching an artist create it. The Practical Guide places this collaborative process at the heart of the pilot methodology.

4. CREATE — AND ADD AUGMENTED REALITY
Now bring your School ARt Gallery to life.
Create the physical artwork together with your students and artist — but think about the digital layer at the same time.
Ask yourselves:
What happens when someone points their phone at our artwork?
Your digital layer might include animation, video, stop motion, sound, narration or other digital content that adds another dimension to the physical work.
For the AR part, return to:
Module 4 — AR in Connection with Street Art
Module 5 — Digital Art Creation and Modification / Artivive
The School ARt Gallery pilots used Artivive to connect physical artworks with their digital layers. The Curriculum specifically introduces Artivive as the tool participants learn to use for AR creative experiences.
When your gallery is complete, add an information plaque explaining the artwork, its creators and how visitors can experience the AR content. The Practical Guide includes the information and Artivive instructions you can use for your plaque.

5. OPEN, EVALUATE & SHARE
Your gallery is ready. Celebrate it!
Invite students, teachers, the artist, school community, families and partners to experience the finished work and its digital layer.
Then ask the people who created it what they thought.
What did they learn?
What worked well?
What was difficult?
Did their understanding of street art, digital tools or Augmented Reality change?
The Practical Guide includes evaluation tools for students and teachers that can be used before and after the project. The results can help you understand its impact and improve the next School ARt Gallery you create.
And don't forget to document the journey — photographs, sketches, videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes moments are part of the story too.

6. JOIN THE SCHOOL ARt GALLERY COMMUNITY
Your gallery is just the beginning of the journey.
Share what you created with the School ARt Gallery community and help inspire other teachers, students and organisations who want to try the methodology.
Tell us about your gallery, what you learned and how you adapted School ARt Gallery to your own context.
[SHARE YOUR SCHOOL ARt GALLERY ON THE COMMUNITY PLATFORM →]
You can also visit the SAG Promenade, our virtual gallery, and explore how School ARt Gallery continues beyond the physical wall.
